- Ensure a structured and neat layout

- Be over confident and sell yourself short
- Be vague
- Use unusual fonts, pictures or graphics
- Use flowery language
- Use abbreviations or short forms
- Use exact dates. Months and years are sufficient
- Give inappropriate or unnecessary information
